Softball Recap: Brighton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Thunderridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brighton). They walked away with a 15-10 win over the ThunderRidge Grizzlies on Friday. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 5-1 victory the Grizzlies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2023.

Riley Doherty was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Hazel Martinez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Brighton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Brighton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for ThunderRidge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Brighton will be taking part in a tournament against Bear Creek at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.5 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for ThunderRidge, they will challenge D'Evelyn at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight.
