Alliance dropped down to 10-17 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against Gering, falling 11-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, Alliance couldn't push the score so high this time.
Hannah Benzel made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
As for Gering, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.
On Gering's side, they got a great performance from Brodee Luce as she struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave Luce a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacelyn Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rileigh Dane, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
Coming up, Alliance is taking a road trip to challenge Bayard at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. Gering does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
