For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Effingham and St. Anthony meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Flaming Hearts came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Flaming Hearts: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Thursday, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Effingham has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for St. Anthony, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 18-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Effingham will venture away from home to challenge Robinson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Anthony, they will head out to face off against Altamont at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
