Alliance has gone a perfect 8-0 against Bayard recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Alliance has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Alliance is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Gering on Tuesday. They came up short against Gering, falling 11-2. Alliance's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bayard, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Lexington 13-1 on Saturday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Kaidence Lee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Krista West, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Miracle Trevino, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Bayard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.
Bayard has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Alliance, their loss dropped their record down to 10-17.
Alliance was able to grind out a solid win over Bayard when the teams last played on Saturday, winning 10-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
