Who had Indiana's best individual performances? You vote, you decide. MaxPreps is proud to sponsor the Indiana Athlete of the Week awards during the 2024-25 school year.

How does it work?

Nominees are selected from statistics submitted on MaxPreps. Coaches who do not have current access may request their free account here. Weekly finalists are released on MaxPreps every Tuesday and voting is conducted in a special poll. Voting ceases at noon on Mondays. The winners are announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.

Participants may manually vote as many times as they want. It's a competition. This past week, over 130,000 votes were cast! So far this school year 6.7-million votes have been cast.

Week 31 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Lucas Clendenen, Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran Boys Lacrosse
Junior had six goals and an assist in a win over Valparaiso and six goals in a loss to Carroll. Opened the season with 11 goals and four assists in a win over Southport. Currently ranked third in the state in goals scored (30).
 
* Emili Knestrict, Hobart Softball
Senior went 3-for-4 with five RBI, four runs and three home runs in a 15-9 win over Portage. Batting .625 with a 1.313 slugging percentage. A career .358 hitter with 91 hits, 64 RBI, 56 runs, 22 doubles and 15 HRs.

Week 32 Indiana High School Athlete of the Week Nominees

* Brooks Walston, Brownsburg Boys Lacrosse
Sophomore went over 100 career points with 12 (seven goals and five assists) in a 21-2 win over Castle. Also had 15 points eight goals and seven assists) in wins over Fishers and Evansville North.
 
* Caydence Peaslee, Covington Softball
Sophomore tied the state record for home runs in a game when she hit four (including two in the same inning) in a 25-9 win over Attica. Finished 4-for-4 with eight RBI and four runs.
 
* Dillon Warnick, Bloomfield Baseball
Senior went 3-for-3 with three home runs, five RBI and four runs in a 10-1 win over North Knox. Batting .550 this season and owns a 1-0 record on the mound with a 2.27 ERA and 23 Ks in 12.1 innings. His 1.100 slugging percentage currently ranks sixth in the state.
 
* Max Shreiner, Elkhart Baseball
Junior went 7-for-8 with four home runs, 13 RBI, eight runs and a double in back-to-back wins over South Bend Riley. Batting .591 with 18 RBI (fifth in the state) and a 1.364 slugging percentage (second in the state). Career .396 hitter with 44 RBI, 36 runs and 10 doubles.  
 
* Bailey Kaiser, Franklin County (Brookville) Softball
Senior went 12-for-14 with 14 RBI, 10 runs, three home runs, three doubles and a triple last week in wins over Batesville and Union County (two). Career .350 hitter with 52 RBI, 44 runs, 17 doubles and nine HRs.
 
* Ava Geyer, New Prairie (New Carlisle) Softball
Senior won her 50th career game, allowed one hit, struck out 13 (of 20 batters) and went 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBI, a run and a home run in a 14-3 victory over La Porte. Prior to that she K’d 19 of the 22 batters she faced in a one-hit 8-0 complete game win over South Bend Adams. Is 50-11 in her career with a 0.97 ERA and 931 Ks. Career .437 hitter with 100 RBI, 36 runs, 28 doubles and 22 HRs.
 
* Ramlian Thang, Perry Meridian (Indianapolis) Boys Volleyball
Junior had 31 and 29 kills in back-to-back wins over Center Grove and Franklin Community. His 165 kills. Currently ranks eight in the state this season.
 
* Harper Adams, Greensburg Softball
Sophomore went 3-0, allowed five hits and two runs and had 44 strikeouts last week. Is 5-0 this season with a 1.00 ERA and 74 Ks (ranks eighth in Indiana) in 35 innings. Owns a 20-4 career record with a 1.10 ERA and 331 KS.

* Marco Castro, Kankakee Valley (Wheatfield, Ind.) Football
Senior carried the ball 34 times for 336 yards and three TDs in a 23-0 win over Rensselaer Central.
 
* Keira Lucas, Northview (Brazil, Ind.) Volleyball
Senior leads the state with 155 kills. Had a season-high 33 in a 3-1 win over Plainfield. Also has 159 digs. Has 1,686 career kills and 1,002 digs.
 
* Noah Moore, White River Valley (Switz City, Ind.) Boys Soccer
Sophomore has a state-best 22 points entering the week. Had four goals in a 9-0 win over Austin and three goals and an assist in a 7-1 win over Clarksville.

Week 2 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Brock Shank, Northwestern (Kokomo) Football
Senior went over 4,000-career passing yards with 412 yards and six TDs on 15-of-27 passing in a 45-27 win over Eastern. Now has 4,166 career yards and 37 TDs.
 
* Ava McCune, Culver Community (Culver) Girls Soccer
Freshman scored six goals in a 7-2 win over South Bend Riley and three goals in a 4-2 win over DeMotte Christian. Her 17 goals and 36 points currently rank seventh and ninth nationally, respectively.
 
*Cale Barger, Scottsburg Boys Soccer
Junior scored seven goals in an 8-0 win over Lanesville.

Week 3 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Jameson Crawford, Knightstown Football
Junior carried the ball 11 times for 202 yards and seven TDs in a 75-0 win over Union County.
 
* Matthew Saaty, Indiana School for the Deaf (Indianapolis) Football
Junior carried the ball 25 times for 398 yards and four TDs and completed 5-of-11 passes for 90 yards and a TD in a 48-44 loss to Traders Point Christian.

Week 4 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Liam Hannon, Muncie Burris Boys Soccer
Senior scored his 50th point this season with a goal in a 2-1 win over Heritage Christian. Also had three goals and four assists in a 10-0 win over Seton Catholic and three goals and three assists in a 9-0 win over Liberty Christian. Has 168 career points (58 goals and 52 assists).
 
* Stella Wolfe, Corydon Central Girls Soccer
Junior had four goals in a 10-0 win over Trinity Lutheran and three goals in a 7-0 win over Austin. Has 14 goals this season.
 
* Grace Sailors, North Miami (Denver) Volleyball
Junior reached 500 career kills with 21 in a 3-0 win over Argos. Also had 22 kills in a 3-1 win over Lewis Cass. Her 270 kills this season currently ranks second in Indiana.

Week 5 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Corbin Johnson, South Decatur (Greensburg) Football
Senior went over 4,000-career rushing yards and scored 40 points in a 53-12 win over Crimson.  Rushed for 278 yards and four TDs on 20 carries, intercepted three passes (retuned two for TDs), scored on a 2-point conversion run and added a safety. His 18 TDs and 122 points this season rank fifth nationally. Currently has 4,001 career rushing yards and 56 TDs. Has 4,819 career all-purpose yards and 60 total TDs. Averages 12.1 points per game over his career (32 games).
 
* Colin Cook, Northwestern (Kokomo) Football
Making his first start, freshman completed 18-of-27 passes for 435 yards and seven TDs in a 47-16 win over Whitko. Coming into the game he was 1-for-4 for seven yards in two previous appearances.
 
* Dominic Garzolini and Aden Wallace, South Vermillion (Clinton, Ind.) Football
Senior pass and catch tandem turned up huge in 48-14 win over Covington, Garzolini completed 16-of-23 passes for 417 yards and six TDs, while Wallace caught eight passes for 220 yards and three TDs. Garzolini has thrown for 1,542 yards and 20 TDs in five games, while Wallace has 27 receptions for 648 yards and eight TDs.

Week 6 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Emory Smith, Bethesda Christian (Brownsburg) Girls Soccer
Senior surpassed 150 career points with 28 (12 goals and four assists) in wins over Greenwood Christian Academy, Indy genesis HomeSchool and Indianapolis Shortridge. Her 38 goals and 85 points this season both reank third in Indiana and are fifth and sixth nationally, respectively. Currently has 71 career goals, 13 assists and 155 points.
 
* Cian Moore, Covington Football
Senior went over 2,000-career rushing yards and 3,000-career all-purpose yards with 323 yards and five TDs on 18 carries in a 38-0 win over Parke Heritage. Also had 10 tackles, an interception and forced fumble.

Week 7 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Levi Muhlenkamp, Jay County (Portland) Boys Soccer
Senior followed up a six-goal game against Blackford with a seven-goal outing in a win over Liberty Christian. His 34 goals this season rank second in Indiana and 26th nationally. His 71 points are fifth and 48, respectively.
 
*Samir Del Rio, Boone Grove (Valparaiso) Football
Senior caught seven passes for 178 yards and four TDs, made 12 tackles and returned a fumble for a TD in a 47-28 win over Whiting. Has 52 receptions for 786 yards and 10 TDs this season.

Week 8 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Braylen Townsend, Bloomington South Football
Junior carried the ball 37 times for 337 yards and five TDs and caught a 60-yard TD pass in a 68-57loss to Brebeuf Jesuit Prep. Has rushed for 1,305 yards and 15 TDs this season.
 
* Sophie Goodwin, Lapel Girls Soccer
Junior had three straight hat tricks (three goals) in wins over Elwood (two) and Tipton. Has 73 points this season (29 goals and 15 assists).

Week 9 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Caiden Verrett, Hanover Central (Cedar Lake) Football
Senior carried the ball 13 times for 134 yards and four TDs and caught a 45-yard TD pass in a 48-26 win over Hammond Central. Has 1,208 yards rushing and 24 total TDs this season and 3,063 career-rushing yards and 65 total career TDs.
 
* Haylee Mathas, Riverton Parke (Montezuma) Volleyball
Senior had 50 digs in a 3-2 win over Covington and reached 500 digs on the season for the third straight year. Currently has 2,023-career digs.

Week 10 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Hank Lin, Columbus North Boys Tennis
Senior won the IHSAA state singles title to cap an undefeated season (27-0) and become the program’s first state champ. Finished state runner-up last season.
 
* Quinn Gillman, Franklin County (Brookville) Football
Senior had four interceptions (returned on for a TD) and six tackles, completed 17-of-23 passes for 198 yards and two TDs and carried the ball 18 times for 91 yards and two TDs in a 33-19 win over Rushville. Has thrown for 1,918 yards and 22 TDs and rushed for 1,073 yards and 12 TDs this season. Also has six INTs, two caused fumbles, a fumble recovery and 45 tackles this season.
 
* Nathan Byrd, Scottsburg Football
Junior completed 10-of-16 passes for 277 yards and six TDs and ran for a TD in a 76-9 win over Owen Valley. Has thrown for 2,049 yards and 32 TDs this season. Career numbers read 4,892 yards passing and 75 total TDs accounted for (66 passing).
 
* Jett Goldsberry, Heritage Hills (Lincoln City) Football
Junior carried the ball 19 times for 187 yards and five TDs and completed 11-of-18 passes for 131 yards in a 35-18 win over Gibson Southern. Career numbers read 2,698 yards passing and 35 TDs and 2,653 rushing yards and 45 TDs.

Week 11 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Jesiah McDaniel, North Judson-San Pierre Football
Senior had four interceptions (returned one for a TD) and carried the ball six times for 58 yards and two TDs in 58-0 win over Culver Community. Has nine interceptions this season (ranks 27th nationally) and 21 in his career to go with 219 tackles. Has also scored 34 career TDs.
 
* Myles Mclaughlin and Jake Conroy, Knox Football
Tandem each eclipsed 200 yards rushing in a 66-28 win over Griffith. McLaughlin, a junior, carried the ball 17 times for 222 yards and four TDs, while Conroy, a senior, carried the ball 11 times for 218 yards and three TDs. The dup also hooked up for a 52-yard TD pass (Mclaughlin to Conroy). Mclaughlin has rushed for a state-best 2,180 yards and 33 TDs this season, while Conroy has added 1,546 yards rushing and 24 TDs.

Week 12 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Raegan Durbin, Western Boone (Thorntown) Volleyball
Senior and Middle Tennessee recruit set a 2A finals record with 24 kills in her team’s 3-0 win over Brownstown Central in the IHSAA state championship.
 
* Jaron Thomas, Concord (Elkhart) Football
Senior had 23 tackles (10 solo) and carried the ball seven times for 155 yards and two TDs in a 31-28 loss to Warsaw. Finished the season with 1,443 yards rushing, 21 TDs and 146 tackles.
 
* Sophia Gisslen, Carroll (Fort Wayne) Volleyball
Junior had 31 assists, eight digs and three kills in a 3-0 win over Yorktown in the IHSAA 4A state final. Finished season with 1,112 assists, which ranks second in the state. 

Week 13 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Kole Wilcox, North Judson-San Pierre Football
Senior carried the ball 11 times for 154 yards and six TDs and caught a 29-yard TD pass in a 70-6 win over Taylor. Has 1,754 yards rushing, 386 yards receiving and 40 TDs this season. Has accounted for 64 total TDs, 3,872 all-purpose yards and 2,969 passing yards in his career.
 
* Madalynn Shirley, Evansville Central Girls Basketball
Junior opened the season with 107 points, 34 rebounds, 13 steals and 12 blocks in wins over Carmel, Crawford County and Corydon Central and a loss to Washington. Her 26.8 points per game currently ranks seventh nationally.

Week 14-15 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Jamison Roach, Adams Central (Monroe) Football
Sophomore ran for 142 yards on 16 carries and three TDs as the Flying Jets conquered Linton-Stockton 46-6 in the IHSAA Class 2A final. The three TD performance was part of seven rushing TDs for the team, which tied a finals record.
 
* Preston Kempf, Providence (Clarksville) Football
Senior ran for 200 yards on 23 carries and accounted for all five TDs (four rushing and one passing) in a 35-20 win over North Judson-San Pierre in the IHSAA Class 1A final.
 
* Jett Goldsberry and Hunter Meredith, Heritage Hills (Lincoln City) Football
Tandem dominated in a 38-15 win over Ft. Wayne Bishop Leurs in the IHSAA Class 3A final. Goldsberry, a junior QB, carried the ball 18 times for 177 yards and three TDS, while Meredith, a senior back, carried the ball 19 times for 141 yards and two TDs. Goldsberry also threw for 71 yards, averaged 49.5-yards per punt, had eight tackles (six solo) and two TFL. Meredith had 206 all-purpose yards (KR and PR), seven tackles and a TFL.

Week 16 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Gavin Eldridge, Peru Boys Basketball
Senior had 33 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and six steals in a 71-59 win over Southwood and 26 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists in a a 70-48 win over Northfield. Averaging 18.8 points, five rebounds, five assists and 3.8 steals. Closing in on 1,000-career points (currently has 955). Also has 316 career assists and 156 steals.
 
* Nathan Smith, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Boys Basketball
Senior had 14 points and 16 assists in a 75-35 win over Bethesda Christian. Averaging 10 points, 9.7 assists (second in the state), 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 steals.

Week  17-18 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Drake Scaggs, South Decatur (Greensburg) Boys Basketball
Junior had 11 points, 15 assists, six rbounds and four steals in a 69-60 win over Austin. Followed that with 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists in a 57-53 win over Edinburgh and 16 points, eight boards, six assists and five steals in a 57-52 win over Shawe Memorial. Averaging 14 points, 8.6 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 3.8 steals.

* Javionne Harris, Taylor (Kokomo) Boys Basketball
Junior had 22 points and 18 rebounds and 11 points and 17 rebounds in wins over Eastern and Delphi Community, respectively. Averaging 15.4 points, 13.5 rebounds (ranks second in state) and 1.9 assists.

Week  19 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Kaden Greenlee, Columbus HomeSchool Boys Basketball
Senior dropped 61 points and had eight assists and four rebounds in a 95-81 win over Wabash Valley Homeschool. Averaging 27.8 points, 7.7 assists (ranks 36th nationally) and four rebounds. His 142 FTs and 235 FGs ranked seventh and eighth nationally, respectively.
 
* Aubrey Bartlowiak, Attica Girls Wrestling
Junior improved to 34-1 by dominating the 235-pound class at the first ever IHSAA Rochester Regional. Pinned all four opponents in the first minute of the first period (0:22, 0:36, 0:11 and 0:16, respectively) en route to the title.
 
* Josie Vaughn, Corydon Central Girls Basketball
Senior had 19 points, 12 assists and five steals in a 76-43 win over Eastern. Averaging 13.5 points, 6.2 assists (ranks 60th nationally), 6.1 rebounds and 2.9 steals. Career numbers read 1,158 points, 358 assists, 355 rebounds and 282 steals.

Week  20 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Monica McMahon, Columbus East Girls Wrestling
Senior finished undefeated (33-0) and claimed the state title at 190 pounds at the first ever IHSAA girls wrestling state finals. Won the championship match via pin in 1:06.
 
* Joy Cantu, Merrillville Girls Wrestling
Senior finished undefeated (37-0) and claimed the state title at 110 pounds at the first ever IHSAA girls wrestling state finals. She is a three-time boys wrestling semi-state qualifier in her career and has 101-career victories.

* Kendall Moe, Hamilton Heights (Arcadia) Girls Wrestling
Unbeaten junior (25-0) became a three-time state champion in girls wrestling when she captured the state title at 105 pounds at the first ever IHSAA girls wrestling state finals. Won her 91st career match and the state title via pin in 19 seconds. Previously won IHSGWA state titles at 98- and 100-pounds.

Week  21 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Julius Gizzi, New Palestine Boys Basketball
Senior dropped 34 points in a 66-64 win over Franklin Community and 28 points and six rebounds in a 64-62 win over Roncalli. Averaging 25.7 points (ranks 8th in Indiana) and 5.7 rebounds. Career numbers read 1,435 points and 384 rebounds.
 
* Anna Prim, Calumet Christian (Griffith) Girls Basketball
Senior recently surpassed 1,000-career points with 18 (and 17 rebounds) in a 68-46 win over Clinton Christian. Also had 14 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks in a 51-35 win over Granger Christian and nine points, 16 rebounds and four blocks in a 49-45 win over La Lumiere. Averaging 13.5 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks. Career totals are 1,027 points, 836 rebounds and 265 blocks.

Week  22 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Jacklynn Hosier, Alexandria-Monroe Girls Basketball
Senior scored 33 points (and had nine steals, six rebounds and five assists) to surpass 2,000 for her career in an 68-16 win over Madison-Grant. Averaging 26.2 points, 7.5 steals, seven rebounds and 5.8 assists. Career totals are 2,030 points, 529 rebounds, 496 steals and 366 assists.
 
* Gavin Betten, Manchester (North Manchester) Boys Basketball
Senior had his second triple-double of the season with 25 points, 15 rebounds, 12 steals, six assists and three blocks in a 69-34 win over Churubusco. Averaging 25.4 points, 11.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.8 steals and 2.8 blocks. Career numbers are 1,830 points, 945 rebounds, 279 assists and 240 blocks.

Week  23 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Sydney Patterson, Monroe Central (Parker City) Girls Basketball
Senior hit nine 3-pointers and scored 29 points to surpass 1,000 for her career in a 67-30 win over Union City. Averaging 13.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.4 assists. Career numbers are 1,003 points, 326 rebounds, 189 steals and 183 assists.
 
* Moses Haynes, New Palestine Boys Basketball
Senior had eight points, 11 assists and five steals in a 74-39 win over Perry Meridian and 13 points, 11 assists and three rebounds in a 77-64 win over Southport. Averaging 13.1 points, 7.5 assists (currently ranks 56th nationally), 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals. Career numbers are 665 points, 404 assists, 160 rebounds and 120 steals.
 
* Piper Ramey, North Montgomery (Crawfordsville) Girls Basketball
Senior had 17 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in a 45-36 win over Western Boone. Also had 13 points and 12 rebounds in a 39-27 win over Delphi Community. Averaging 15.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.6 assists. Has 12 double-doubles this winter.

Week  24 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Sara Zarse, Tri-County (Wolcott) Girls Basketball
Senior had 25 points, six rebounds, four assists and four blocks in a 53-27 win over Pioneer. Averaged 14.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 3.3 assists. Finishes career with 1,066 points, 564 rebounds, 348 steals and 331 assists.
 
* Adelyn Flessner, North Central (Indianapolis) Girls Diving
Junior scored 441.80 points to win the IHSAA state championship.
 
* Hadley Crosier, Lanesville Girls Basketball
Senior had 28 points, seven steals and five rebounds in a 45-28 win over Eastern and 27 points, five assists and two steals in a 67-56 loss to South Knox. Averaged 17 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.2 steals and 3.5 assists this season. Finishes career with 1,351 points, 416 rebounds, 421 steals and 397 assists.

Week 25 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Joslyn Bricker, Warsaw Girls Basketball
Junior had 35 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals in a 66-48 win over McCutcheon. Also had 18 points in a 67-61 win over Hamilton Southeastern. Averaging 19.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.6 steals. Career numbers are 1,223 points, 236 rebounds, 157 assists and 118 blocks.
 
* Matthew Staples, New Prairie (New Carlisle) Wrestling
Freshman became one of five freshman in the 87-year history of the IHSAA State Finals to win a title at a weight over 125 pounds. Wrapped an undefeated season (45-0) with a state title at 157 pounds.
 
* Zane Mitchell, Shenandoah (Middletown) Boys Basketball
Junior had back-to-back 18-assist games in wins over Randolph Southern and Union. Averaging 6.7 points, 7.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds.

Week 26 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Leah West, Greensburg Girls Basketball
Senior had 17 points, 17 rebounds, eight blocks, three assists and two steals in a 53-44 loss to Norwell in the IHSAA Class 3A state final.
 
* Ava Wheeler, Borden Girls Basketball
Junior had 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals in a 49-40 win over Lafayette Central Catholic in the IHSAA Class 1A final.

Week 27 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Gavin Whitaker, Victory Christian Academy (Valparaiso) Boys Basketball
Sophomore dropped 34, 40 and 36 points in wins over Spire Academy and Legacy Academy and a loss to Veritas Collegiate Academy. Averaging 24.5 points and 5.8 rebounds and has scored 758 points this season.
 
* Austin Stein, Covington Boys Basketball
Senior had 14 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds in a 72-46 win over North Vermillion and 12 points, 11 assists, three rebounds and four steals in a 71-51 win over Faith Christian. Also had 11 points, five assists and four boards in a 50-40 loss to Lafayette Central Catholic. Averaging 12.8 points, 5.1 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals.

Week 28-30 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* David Gould, Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers) Boys Lacrosse
Junior had 16 points (10 assists and six goals) in a 23-1 win over Forest Hills Central (Mich.). Also had games of eight (2x) and seven (2x) points this season. His 31 assists and 58 points currently  lead the state.
 
* Mallory Eaglin, Milan Softball
Junior went over 100 career hits when she went 3-for-3 in a 9-8 win over Fairview. Batting .652 this season with 19 RBI (currently leads the state). Has 104 career hits with 86 RBI, 21 doubles and 13 HRs.
