Softball Recap: Brighton Has No Trouble Against Bear Creek

Brighton lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bear Creek, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Bears on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Riley Doherty was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Madeline Umsted also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Brighton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Brighton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Bear Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Brighton has already played their next matchup, an 11-1 defeat against Grandview on the 6th. As for Bear Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-8 loss against Grand Junction Central on the 6th.
