Baseball Recap: Belleville East Takes a Loss

Belleville East had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 10-20-1 to make it seven. They fell 11-6 to the Belleville West Maroons. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Maroons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Logan Walter made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Belleville East's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 8-19-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Lindemann, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

As for Belleville West, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

On Belleville West's side, Braydon Skaer looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Skaer a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Parker Wells and Jack Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Wells went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Harris went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Wells a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adam Bilzing, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Looking ahead, Belleville West will host Columbia at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Belleville East will be paying especially close attention to the Maroons' game: after the Maroons face off against the Eagles, they'll take on Belleville East again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
