Softball Recap: Chadron Comes Up Short

Chadron dropped to 11-9 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Alliance Bulldogs by a score of 12-11. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Addisyn Gruver stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Cali Hendrickson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

As for Alliance, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-13. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last five games.

On Alliance's side, Maci Cornish and Alivia Osborn did most of the damage at the plate: Cornish went 1-for-2 with one home run and five RBI, while Osborn went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Cornish has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Benzel, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Chadron will be playing at home against Gering on Tuesday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Alliance, they have already played their next matchup, an 8-3 loss against Cozad on the 20th.
