Basketball Recap: Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels vs. Juniata Valley Hornets
Moshannon Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Juniata Valley Hornets, falling 50-27. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Knights/Damsels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-16 back in January.
Juniata Valley was led to victory by Anna Taylor and Aubrey Anderson. Taylor went 9 for 19 en route to 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Anderson went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points in addition to six assists and six steals. That's the most points Taylor has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kassidy Watson, who posted four points.
Moshannon Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Juniata Valley, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Moshannon Valley and Juniata Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Moshannon Valley will take on Purchase Line at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday down 280 places (557 vs. 277). Similarly, Juniata Valley (ranked 314th) will meet Williamsburg (ranked 90th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
