Softball Recap: Mountain Range Triumphs

Mountain Range's tournament run continued when they took on Sterling on Saturday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 10-7.

Abby Judd made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Judd was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Salazar Rodriguez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Makayla Gilbert was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Mountain Range's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Sterling, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Mountain Range will square off against Thornton at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. As for Sterling, they will face off against Longmont at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Trojans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
