Baseball Recap: Dunlap Gets the Win

Metamora typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Dunlap proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Redbirds 5-3. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Carter Lippens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dunlap's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brett Alkire, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Dunlap and bumps their season record up to 25-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Metamora, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-7.

Looking ahead, Metamora will be playing at home against Richwoods at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Knights have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Dunlap will be paying especially close attention to Metamora's matchup: after Metamora faces off against Richwoods, they'll take on Dunlap again at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
