Baseball Recap: Marian Catholic Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Marian Catholic's offense. They fell 5-0 to the Reavis Rams on Thursday. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 12-1 to the Rams when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Matt Gonzalez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Marian Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-17 record this season. As for Reavis, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 22-11 record.

Marian Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Reavis, they will be playing at home against St. Rita at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
