Baseball Recap: Riverton Comes Up Short

Lutheran hit Riverton with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hawks took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Will Grigsby was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Riverton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Howard, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Riverton has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-20 record this season. As for Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Riverton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lutheran, they will square off against Heyworth at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
