The Pueblo Central Wildcats will challenge the Discovery Canyon Thunder at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Pueblo Central's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Discovery Canyon has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
On Monday, Pueblo Central didn't have quite enough to beat Widefield and fell 5-4.
Sophia Perez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Discovery Canyon got themselves on the board against Lewis-Palmer on Wednesday, but Lewis-Palmer never followed suit. They blew past the Rangers 12-0.
The team relied heavily on Taylor McCann, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzie Ackerman, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
Discovery Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewis-Palmer only posted an OBP of .250.
Discovery Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Pueblo Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-4.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pueblo Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Discovery Canyon struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pueblo Central skirted past Discovery Canyon 2-1 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
