After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dickinson, Clear Falls was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 38-21 victory over the Clear Lake Falcons. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Falcons are ranked 388th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clear Falls to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Champagne, who threw for 221 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave Champagne a new career-high in rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Andrew Martinez, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns.

Penny Robinson and Talandis Cotton certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Robinson threw for 356 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt, while Cotton picked up 178 receiving yards and a touchdown. Cotton was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 69 yards. A healthy portion of Robinson's aerial production (100 yards to be exact) also went to Luke Mazur.

Clear Falls' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 41.8 points. As for Clear Lake, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Clear Falls will square off against Summer Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Summer Creek's defense has only allowed 12.1 points per game this season, so Clear Falls' offense will have their work cut out for them. Clear Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
