The Stafford Trojans will square off against the Hodgeman County Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Stafford will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points last Friday, then bounced right back against Macksville on Friday. The Trojans took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-6 win over the Mustangs. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.
Dylan Brozek produced another solid effort rushing for 149 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 49 yards and one touchdown. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making 17 total tackles. Landon Marks made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Stafford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. James Engelbrecht and Marks were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece. Marks got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Hodgeman County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed past St. John to the tune of 52-6. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Tigers are ranked 64th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stafford better keep an eye on Ian Reece. He was instrumental in Hodgeman County's win, rushing for 95 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 29 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards Reece has posted since back in September of 2024.
Hodgeman County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
The victory got Stafford back to even at 2-2. As for Hodgeman County, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
