Softball Recap: Jordan Takes a Loss

Jordan extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-15. They lost 18-9 to the Manchester Blue Devils. If the Red Jackets were looking for revenge after losing 10-9 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in October of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Manchester, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-19. 18 seems to be a good number for them as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Manchester's part, Ca'Monee Mitchell made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Mitchell a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layla Kidd, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Addison Painter, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

Jordan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Manchester, they will head out to challenge Peach County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
