Baseball Recap: Putnam County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Putnam County had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-4 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Treutlen Vikings as they made off with a 12-3 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the War Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

As for Treutlen, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this matchup were averaging 3.86 runs allowed.

For Treutlen's part, Caden Parrish was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Parrish was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was his first of the season.

Parrish wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Bailey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Bailey has brought in this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Putnam County will welcome Commerce at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the War Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Treutlen, they will square off against Hawkinsville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
