The Palatine Pirates will head out to take on the Jacobs Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Palatine will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Palatine had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Niles West on Saturday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 13-7 victory.
Nick Salata looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Palatine got a massive performance out of Ben Ratajczak, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddux Heilman, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Jacobs hadn't done well against St. Charles North recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the North Stars, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since May 1st.
Aaden Colon looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
At the plate, Jace Koth was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 13 matchups. Andrew Deegan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Palatine's record now sits at 21-13. As for Jacobs, their record is now 20-12.
Palatine beat Jacobs 10-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
