Baseball Game Preview: Lanphier Lions vs. Springfield Southeast Spartans

Lanphier is 0-10 against Springfield Southeast since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Lions will head out to challenge the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Lanphier didn't have quite enough to beat MacArthur and fell 6-5.

Kane Baskett was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Springfield Southeast came up short against Jacksonville on Wednesday, falling 12-3.

Springfield Southeast saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Van De Velde, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Will Tucker also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Lanphier's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Springfield Southeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-22.

Lanphier suffered a grim 14-8 defeat to Springfield Southeast when the teams last played back in March. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
