Baseball Recap: Mater Dei Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mater Dei can now relate to. They fell just short of the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins by a score of 9-8 on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jack Reynolds was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Avery Strader, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Mater Dei's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 17-19. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Mater Dei nor Father McGivney Catholic have any future games scheduled.
