Softball Recap: Poudre Takes a Loss

Poudre extended their losing streak to 11 on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-16. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mountain Range Mustangs. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Kennedy Stegeman made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mayley Miller, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

As for Mountain Range, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Poudre since September 14, 2019.

On Mountain Range's side, the team relied heavily on Abby Judd, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. MacKenzie King was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poudre will square off against Fossil Ridge at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mountain Range, they will face off against Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
