The Kankakee Kays will challenge the Urbana Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kankakee is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over Thornton on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Mike Prudejr was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Kankakee's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 7-22 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Rahman Lawal was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Short, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Urbana had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Centennial 7-6.
The team relied heavily on Isaac Armstrong, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Jacob Moody was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Urbana hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial struck out eight times.
Kankakee's record now sits at 10-23. As for Urbana, their record is now 6-23.
Kankakee skirted past Urbana 5-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Kays repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
