Maize had won four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 7-0 to make it five. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 68-34 victory over the Valley Center Hornets. Fans of the Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Brayden Myovela was his usual excellent self, rushing for 154 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries, while also throwing for 153 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Shannon Jones also helped out as he racked up 111 rushing yards.

As for Valley Center, they now have a losing record of 3-4. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Maize: they've now lost four in a row.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Connor Thatcher, who threw for 283 yards and four touchdowns. 116 of those passing yards were hauled in by Ray J Logan, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
