After only seven points in their last game, Valley made sure to put some points up on the board against Del Norte on Thursday. The Vikings strolled past the Knights with points to spare, taking the game 39-23. That 16 point margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.

Jonah Marez threw for 281 yards and two TDs while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt. Gabriel Gonzales was his top target, picking up 135 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Zachary Perez-Verdeja rushed for 154 yards and one score while picking up 9.6 yards per carry.

Del Norte's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kordell Erby, who picked up 131 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Nicholas Archuleta was another key signal caller, throwing for 278 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt.

The win made it two in a row for Valley and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 26 points in those games. As for Del Norte, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley will welcome Los Alamos at 11:00 a.m. on the 25th. The Vikings' defense better be ready for this one: the Hilltoppers have averaged an impressive 37 points per game this season. As for Del Norte, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Miyamura at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
