Softball Recap: Trinity Christian's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Trinity Christian had lost four games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 9-10 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 victory over the Fayette County Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-3 back in September.

Mary Ruth Adkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and seven unearned) runs on 14 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Makenzie Knowles was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Elizabeth McCarthy also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Trinity Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .385 that Fayette County posted.

As for Fayette County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (ten), they still had to take the loss.

On Fayette County's side, Cameron Taylor made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was C Collins, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Coming up, Trinity Christian will head out to challenge Whitewater at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fayette County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
