Softball Recap: Sterling's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Sterling dropped down to 10-10 on Thursday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 15-6 to the Brush Beetdiggers. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Beetdiggers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

As for Brush, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

For Brush's part, Emry Chard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Chard has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella Mesch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jolie Tuck was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Sterling is set to take on their familiar foe Lyons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Brush will challenge rival Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
