High school football: Preseason computer rankings for every state

Find out which team is No. 1 in your state heading into the 2023 season according to rankings-generating algorithm.

MaxPreps has released its initial computer rankings for the 2023 high school football season. Mater Dei (Santa Ana), the top team in California, is also ranked No. 1 nationally.

The rankings are composed through a complex, unbiased computer algorithm. Factors considered for the preseason rankings include past results and adjustments such as returners and statistical data when available.
