Recap: Rosamond Roadrunners vs. Desert Scorpions
The Rosamond Roadrunners were the 53-46 winner over the Desert Scorpions when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Rosamond took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Desert on Tuesday.
Several Roadrunners players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ariel Cain, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 45% of Rosamond's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kiley Perez, who scored eight points along with eight blocks and seven rebounds.
Desert's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Destiny Hart, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds. Hart is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kalista Williams was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Rosamond's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Desert, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rosamond will take on Mammoth at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mammoth will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1144th, while Rosamond is ranked 551st). As for Desert, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Frazier Mountain on Friday.
