Football Recap: Rush City Tigers vs. Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels
Rush City was the 24-22 winner over Moose Lake/Willow River when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers took a 33-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rebels on Thursday.
Moose Lake/Willow River's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Samarzia, who rushed for 101 yards and two scores on only 13 carries. Samarzia didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles (2.0 for loss). Another rusher making a difference was Micah Thompson, who rushed for 113 yards and one TD on only 13 carries.
Rush City's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for Moose Lake/Willow River, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
