Football Recap: Ulysses Tigers vs. Liberal Redskins
Ulysses lost against Liberal back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tigers were dealt a 38-8 loss at the hands of the Redskins. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-0.
Ulysses didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tyce Perez and Stryker Berglund.
Xavier Tafoya had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 240 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.9 yards per carry for Liberal. That's the most rushing touchdowns Tafoya has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Blayden Betts, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries.
This is the second loss in a row for Ulysses and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Liberal, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Coming up, Ulysses will square off against Guymon at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th. As for Liberal, they will take on Hays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
