By Mitch Stephens May 12, 2022, 11:00am

Woodward Academy senior infielder, outfielder and pitcher not only stole 59 bases but also blasted 11 home runs in 2022.

Chandler Pollard is going places. When the versatile Woodward Academy (College Park, Ga.) senior got on base this season — he hit a team-best .521 with 12 doubles, four triples and 11 home runs — his superior speed often led him around back to home plate as he scored 54 times, which currently ranks third among players in Georgia, according to MaxPreps leaderboards.

Pollard, who can play infield, outfield and pitch, is also the state leader in steals with 59 for the War Eagles, who finished the season 24-9. The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder stole bases in all but six games this season with a high of six in an 8-7 win over Newman on Feb. 18. Pollard has committed to play at the college level for Washington State.

Heading into this week, Pollard was one of four Georgians who have stolen at least 50 bases this season with Morelando Johnson of Forest Park right behind him with 58 steals.

MaxPreps compiles leaderboards from statistics supplied by high school coaches from throughout Georgia and the country.
