No. 9 North Crowley advances to 6A Division 1 state championship after 36-34 win over No. 3 Duncanville.

No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) finished its season with a 37-15 win over No. 21 De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) on Saturday in the CIF Open Division state championship at Saddleback College. It was the Monarchs fifth state title since 2017 and their ninth win against a MaxPreps Top 25 opponent on the season.

Washington-bound quarterback Dash Beierly threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, while Oregon-bound running back Jordon Davison added two rushing scores.

The Monarchs went into halftime with a 23-0 lead but the Spartans scored 15 unanswered points in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 23-15 with 4:20 left after Toa Faavae scored his second rushing touchdown of the night.

Mater Dei put together a 92-yard drive capped off with a 15-yard touchdown run from Davison to make it a two score game. Beierly connected with Mark Bowman for a 31-yard score later in the fourth to seal the win and most likely a third MaxPreps National Championship for the Monarchs.

Tony Salazar got his biggest win as head coach at Westlake (Austin, Texas) with a dominant 35-10 win over No. 6 North Shore (Houston) to advance to the 6A Division 1 state championship. It was the 12th straight win for the Chaparrals and they will face No. 9 North Crowley (Fort Worth, Texas) next Saturday at AT&T Stadium.

After the Mustangs took an early 3-0 lead, the Chaparrals responded by scoring 21 unanswered points. North Shore cut the deficit to 21-10 right before halftime. Westlake outscored North Shore 14-0 in the second half and clinched its first state championship berth since 2021.

North Crowley snapped No. 3 Duncanville's (Texas) 16-game playoff win streak with a 36-34 victory and became the first team to beat Keelon Russell in the postseason. They used a well-balanced attack as Cornelius Warren III carried the ball 42 times for 178 yards and a touchdown. He added two catches for 45 yards and another score.

Chris Jimerson completed 11 of 17 passes for 185 yards and four touchdowns. Colorado-bound wideout Quentin Gibson had five receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns, giving him 33 receiving scores on the season.

Russell completed 18 of 27 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns in his final high school game. He added six carries for 66 yards and another score. Five-star wideout Dakorien Moore had seven grabs for 138 yards and a score.

Five-star junior quarterback Faizon Brandon led Grimsley (Greensboro, N.C.) to a 35-23 win over No. 24 Weddington (Matthews, N.C.) to advance to the 4A state championship. After trailing 10-0 at halftime the Whirlies outscored the Warriors 35-13 in the second half to snap the defending 4A state champs 19-game win streak.

Brandon connected with Kaden Catoe for three touchdowns and Mitchell Summers sealed the win with two scores on the ground in the fourth quarter. Grimsley will face Rolesville (N.C.) in the 4A state championship next Friday at Kenan Stadium.

Four-star Miami signee Malachi Toney has filled in at quarterback since Dia Bell suffered an injury during the second round of the playoffs and helped No. 23 American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) win its first state title since 2020. He completed 15 of 18 passes for 188 yards and had two total touchdowns in a 40-31 win over Jones (Orlando, Fla.) in the 4A championship.

Florida signee Byron Louis added 221 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. The Tigers' Dereon Coleman rushed for 138 yards and three scores.

St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) won its sixth straight state title handing No. 13 Lakeland (Fla.) its first loss of the season with a one-sided 34-0 win. The defense dominated and Chance Washington carried the weight on offense finishing with 12 carries for 70 yards and two scores. Expect the Raiders to jump back in the MaxPreps Top 25 next week as they were ranked at No. 29 in our expanded top 100.

No. 11 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) won its fourth consecutive state championship with a 42-7 win over Clearwater Central Catholic (Clearwater) on Wednesday. The defense forced six turnovers and the Lions finished the season on a 13-game win streak after an 0-2 start.

No. 19 Venice added its fourth state title in school history and first since 2021 with a 52-19 win over Lake Mary in the 7A state championship on Saturday. Winston Watkins Jr. and Gata Wilder both had three touchdowns each for the Indians.
