Baseball Recap: Springfield Takes a Loss

Springfield's last matchup with Mt. Zion could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. Springfield came up short against Mt. Zion, falling 8-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which Springfield was not able to get on the board.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Mt. Zion, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-11.

Looking ahead, Springfield is taking a road trip to challenge Granite City at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mt. Zion, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Roxana at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Braves 4, the Shells 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
