Football Recap: Shawnee Mission West Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Shawnee Mission West extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They were outmatched by the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers and fell 48-7. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Trailblazers are ranked 11th).

Mason Vonfeldt threw for 26 yards on four of eight attempts.

As for Gardner-Edgerton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. The result was nothing new for the Trailblazers, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Syre Padilla, who rushed for 212 yards and four TDs on only 12 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 141 rushing yards dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Gardner-Edgerton beat Shawnee Mission West by a score of 56-21 on Thursday.
