Football Game Preview: Shenango Wildcats vs. Fort Cherry Rangers

The Shenango Wildcats will challenge the Fort Cherry Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shenango hasn't scored more than 13 points for four games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Shenango came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against Laurel, falling 42-0. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Spartans are ranked 185th).

Meanwhile, Fort Cherry strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They claimed a resounding 56-19 victory over Bishop Canevin. 56 seems to be a good number for the Rangers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Fort Cherry's win came from a few key players Shenango will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Matt Sieg, who rushed for 235 yards and three scores while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. Those 235 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Huey, who rushed for 146 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries.

Fort Cherry was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 413 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Shenango's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Fort Cherry, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
