Basketball Recap: Elk Grove Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Elk Grove had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They strolled past the Oakmont Vikings with points to spare, taking the game 67-52. This was payback for the Thundering Herd, who suffered a 35-30 loss the last time these two teams met.

Elk Grove found their leader in freshman Mackenzie McEntee, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 13 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlin Cutler, who made all 5 shots she took racking up 10 points.

Elk Grove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 42-39 victory against El Camino on the 24th. As for Oakmont, they will square off against Casa Roble at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
