While Trinity Christian's win against Upson-Lee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Knights 5-4. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Mary Ruth Adkins, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Fayette County hadn't done well against Whitewater recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
E Patton spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits.
At the plate, T Lathem was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of T Jordan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Fayette County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.
Trinity Christian's record now sits at 8-10. As for Fayette County, their record is now 9-13.
Trinity Christian took their win against Fayette County in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 12-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
