Softball Recap: Lincoln Southwest Takes Down Ranked Elkhorn South

Lincoln Southwest faced Elkhorn South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Silver Hawks blew past the Storm 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Silver Hawks, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Maisey McCarty made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taylor Siefken was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since September 5th. Another player making a difference was Brenly Noerrlinger, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Lincoln Southwest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-2 record this season. As for Elkhorn South, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lincoln Southwest will take on rival Fremont at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Elkhorn South is set to challenge their familiar foe Papillion-LaVista South at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
