Baseball Recap: Parkview Beats Norcross for Their Fifth Straight Win

Parkview waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over the Norcross Blue Devils. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-4 last Thursday.

JT Whritenour looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Malachi Washington, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Ellis Appling, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Parkview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Parkview's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Norcross, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parkview will head out to square off against Marist at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Norcross, they will head out on the road to face off against Peachtree Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Norcross has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
