Baseball Recap: Commerce Gets the Win

Commerce lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Putnam County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Tigers' pitchers stepped up to hand the War Eagles a 6-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Tate Kirk looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hudson Foster, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamdin Mize, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Commerce now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Putnam County, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Commerce will challenge Banks County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Tigers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Putnam County, they will take on Alcovy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
