Football Recap: Stafford Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Stafford's offense. They were beaten by the Hodgeman County Longhorns 59-0 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Hodgeman County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ian Reece led the charge by picking up 33 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also punching in one TD on the ground. Another pass catcher making a difference was Tyson Younger, who gained 47 total yards and two touchdowns.

Stafford now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Hodgeman County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Stafford will venture away from home to challenge Victoria at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' defense has only allowed four points per game this season, so the Trojans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Hodgeman County, they will be playing at home against Macksville at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Longhorns will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
