Basketball Recap: Lyons Comes Up Short

Lyons lost against Heritage Christian back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lyons Lions took a 75-61 bruising from the Heritage Christian Eagles. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Lyons still got an impressive performance from Caleb Christiansen, who went 9-for-13 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Christiansen now owns an excellent 42.3% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Jake LaCrosse, who posted three points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Lyons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Alec Lundy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Heritage Christian, going 10-for-19 on his way to 27 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lundy has scored at least a third of Heritage Christian's points. Levi Hermsen was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards.

Lyons' loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Heritage Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Lyons didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 89-51 win against Denver Academy on the 7th. As for Heritage Christian, they have also already played their next game, a 58-39 defeat against Bishop Machebeuf on the 6th.
