The Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks will take on the Elkhorn South Storm at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lincoln Southwest 1.6, Elkhorn South 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Elkhorn South will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Lincoln Southwest extended their winning streak to four on Saturday. The Silver Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand Marian an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Silver Hawks, who have now won 16 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Maisey McCarty made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since September 2nd.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashley Jucht, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ja'Sara Wilson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Lincoln Southwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marian only posted an OBP of .294.
Meanwhile, Elkhorn South faced Lincoln East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Storm had just enough and edged out the Spartans 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Storm in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.
Lauren Schneider spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Isabelle Jackson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Lincoln Southwest's record is now 23-2. As for Elkhorn South, their record now sits at 18-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Lincoln Southwest hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Elkhorn South struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lincoln Southwest beat Elkhorn South 8-4 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Silver Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
