Softball Recap: Northwest Wins Going Away Against Lincoln Southeast

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest). They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Lincoln Southeast Knights on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Libby Loman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Graclyn Simmons was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Abby Dinkelman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Northwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Southeast only posted a batting average of .250.

Northwest pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Southeast, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Northwest will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pius X at 1:00 p.m. As for Lincoln Southeast, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Papillion-LaVista South at 5:00 p.m. on September 8.
