Baseball Recap: Glenbard West Comes Up Short

Glenbard West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Downers Grove South Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hilltoppers of the 17-12 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Glenbard West's loss dropped their record down to 15-18. As for Downers Grove South, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-11 record this season.

Glenbard West and Downers Grove South should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Hilltoppers (ranked 184th) will meet Leyden (ranked 380th) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Downers Grove South will square off against Proviso East at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (103 vs. 491).
