Thoreau hadn't done well against Tohatchi recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Saturday. The Hawks walked away with  a   3-1  win over the Cougars. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Cougars  on October 7th, they had to take a  3-1  loss.
Thoreau found their leader in sophomore  Jillianne Brondo, who  had nine  digs and one  assist.
 Thoreau  was lethal from the service line and  finished the match with ten  aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  served at least ten  aces in three consecutive  contests.
Thoreau's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Tohatchi, their defeat  ended  a  five-match streak of away wins  and  brought them to 15-5.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Thoreau will  take on  rival Zuni  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Tohatchi is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Newcomb  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
