Volleyball Recap: Evergreen Park Takes Down Joliet Catholic in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Evergreen Park rose to the challenge on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since October 2nd.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Evergreen Park who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 17-25, 25-23.

Neve Hayes paced Evergreen Park's offense, picking up ten kills. Hayes really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 18. Madison Majka controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Despite the loss, Joliet Catholic still got an impressive performance from Katie Selinger, who had 13 digs.

Evergreen Park is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-12 record this season. As for Joliet Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 17 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-23 record this season.

Evergreen Park will square off against Providence Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Joliet Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
