Baseball Recap: Bloomington Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bloomington can now relate to. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rantoul Eagles on Wednesday. That's two games in a row now that the Purple Raiders have lost by exactly three runs.

Bloomington saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Leman, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Leman is becoming a predictor of the Purple Raiders' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 9-22 when he doesn't). Another was Dylan Reed, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Bloomington has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-23 record this season. As for Rantoul, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Bloomington nor Rantoul have any future games scheduled.
