Baseball Recap: Marian Catholic Triumphs

Marian Catholic posted their closest victory since April 25th on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Rich Township Raptors 7-6.

Aiden Garcia made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jazarris Mackmore was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Angelo Desoto, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Marian Catholic's record is now 18-16. As for Rich Township, they moved to 26-7 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marian Catholic will host Reavis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Rich Township, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Chicago Christian at 10:00 a.m.
